Why You'll Love It
Are
you looking for privacy? This 75-acre tract at the end of the road offers lots
of privacy with a little hunting cabin to shelter in. Property is fully wooded
with a mix of hardwoods and native pine. Some trees are marketable timber so
bring a portable sawmill and cut what you need to build your own house from the
ground up. You will also find good stones for foundation work, chimney or
patios. This tract offers great hunting for whitetail deer and black bears as
well as small game. It is near Bull Shoals Lake in north central Arkansas if
you want a large body of water for fishing or boating. Bull Shoals Lake has
over 7oo miles of shoreline and is home to bass, walleye, catfish, and other
species. The property is in Marion County where you will also find fishing for
trout on the White River or small mouth bass in the Buffalo National River. The
property has already been surveyed, and access is deeded. The land lays well
with a central mountain top sloping off on three sides. This property is unrestricted,
so you have the option for alternative building plans and the ability to keep
livestock of your choosing. It even has a small Ozark Mountain stream running
along one edge. Four-wheel drive vehicle is advised. Property taxes are less than $100 a year!
During a 26 year career as an engineering officer in the US Merchant Marine I had opportunity to visit 53 countries and many of the contiguous United States plus Hawaii and Alaska. I did not find any place that I would prefer to live year around more than these Ozark hills here in Marion County Arkansas. Let me show you some land while I tell you about the rivers and lakes as well as the cavern systems and thousands of acres of public forest for hiking and exploring.
I like the four seasons we have and what each new season has to share like wild mushroom gathering in spring and especially fall, a variety of hunting and fishing experiences, and gardening. My wife and I are avid gardeners (met as vendors at Yellville’s own farmer’s market) and grow most of our meat as well. We take satisfaction in knowing we have access to healthy food and practice living close to the land by canning and drying a lot of our surplus vegetables and even meat. We supplement the food we raise from the abundant variety of game and fish found here through hunting, fishing and wild harvesting.
I am a graduate of the Arkansas Master Naturalist program and have a fascination for the rocks and minerals here as well as the flora and fauna. It is hard to beat an afternoon wading up one of the many clear, gravel or rock bottomed creeks in the area looking to see what is under the next rock or in the next deep pool or growing alongside the cool water.
I built my own house here in 1996 and live in it now. I lived off the grid for 3 years and have an interest in things pertaining to alternative energy.
Let me show you some houses or just raw land and share my knowledge of the area and my love for it. You will see why this is where I set roots over 25 years ago and have raised my children here.
